Tips To Build Traffic

Everyone who has a website is trying to get more traffic. There can never be enough and there's no such thing as too much traffic.

With all the websites that already exist, and all the websites that will be built in the near future, there will always be tough competition to get the right traffic to your website.

GetNaturalTraffic offers some tips that may help you get the right traffic. There is no easy formula for any website. So, try different things and learn as you go.

Get Listed On Large Directories
This is more important for e-commerce websites, but is still good for non-commercial websites.  If you're listed on Yahoo's Directory or Google's Directory, then you're likely to get traffic from users who are shopping for specific items.

If you're not an e-commerce site, you can still benefit from the PageRank that comes from a direct link to your website.
Product Feeds / Ads
Google has a free product feed tool called Google Base.  They let you upload details of your products which show up in the product searches.  Yahoo also a product feed where you pay per click.

Ads are also important ways to get traffic.  They are usually pay per click or some other payment type for showing links to your products.  This is more useful only when you have a steady customer base since it could take a little time to develop ads that users respond well to.
Blogs / Articles
When you say something about your own website, it seems more like spam.  But when someone else says something about your website, it sounds like advice.

Get professional writers to describe your website in a positive but objective manner.  They can write it in a blog, or in a forum, or in an article on a website.   It will boost opinions of your website and draw in good traffic.
Plenty Of Good Content
This one is pretty obvious.

But it is actually one of the harder things to do.  Most websites try to focus on one thing.  Whether its getting the customer to buy something, or getting users to click on ads, or providing some free service to email them spam.

Try to build your website as if you were using it.  If you want to buy a product, what do you do? You do as much research as you can.  Wouldn't it be nice if all the research was already on your website.

If your website is about information, try to add some tools that will make users want to bookmark your site.
